Donate Goods

Many visitors to our walk-in centres live and sleep (regularly) outdoors. That’s a very tough life. They ask us for warm coats and sleeping bags, but we usually have to tell them we’re out of them again. Please help us.

We’re looking for good-quality winter coats and sleeping bags that can withstand low temperatures, with working zippers and, preferably, waterproof. Please bring these to one of our locations (drop-off addresses at the bottom of this page).

De Regenboog Groep is collecting hats, sunglasses, and (new) water bottles to support the city’s homeless population during the hot summer months. For people without a permanent place to stay, summer can be just as dangerous as winter. Bright sunlight, high temperatures, and limited access to water pose serious health risks such as dehydration, heatstroke, and overheating. That risk is even greater in the city than in rural areas.

Many homeless people do not have the means or opportunity to purchase these basic items themselves. That is why De Regenboog Groep is stepping in. By donating caps, sunglasses, or a new reusable water bottle, you’re not only giving someone protection from the heat but also letting them know they’re being thought of.

Will you help? Here’s what we need:

• caps and visors
• sunglasses (non-prescription)
• reusable, clean, and tightly sealed water bottles

Drop them off at a walk-in centre in your neighborhood. You can find them via the link below.

Clothing is very important to our homeless visitors. It helps them protect themselves from the weather, and it gives them a sense of self-worth and identity. Of course, they also want to look their best and feel comfortable.

What we need most are:

• (denim) pants,
• sweaters and hoodies,
• T-shirts,
• (thermal) underwear,
• jackets and rain gear,
• socks and shoes.

Donate clothing that you yourself could still wear. If it’s good enough for you, it’s good enough to give to someone else. Give your clothing with love.

Bring good-quality men’s clothing to one of our locations (drop-off addresses at the bottom of this page). We don’t need women’s clothing; most homeless people are men.

Our social workers have noticed that many homeless people and other vulnerable residents of Amsterdam do not have a smartphone or any other way to access the internet. Yet it is precisely those who are (temporarily) struggling the most to participate in society who are expected to do the most when it comes to digital matters. You find jobs and housing online. And don’t forget your health insurance provider and government agencies like the Work and Income Service, the UWV, and the Tax and Customs Administration. You have to log in with your DigiD everywhere.

Help address this problem by donating a smartphone that works really well. Smartphones become outdated quickly. The software and apps required for the services mentioned above don’t run on older phones. Many homeless people also want to work as meal delivery drivers, which requires a phone that supports the app through which orders come in.

Do you have a smartphone lying around that works really well? Or a laptop? If so, please bring it—along with its charger—to one of our locations. You can find the drop-off addresses at the bottom of this page. Before distributing the device, we’ll have your phone or laptop professionally wiped and restored to factory settings. So even if any old data is accidentally left on it, no one will be able to see it.

Our Streetwise Cycle Team brings together people whose lives aren’t going so smoothly right now; they connect through their love of bicycles and cycling. To be able to provide bikes for all team members, we’re looking for: Loose (road) bike and mountain bike parts. Complete road bikes and mountain bikes are, of course, also very welcome! They don’t have to be in perfect condition, but they should be in good enough shape that you’d still use them yourself. We’re not just cyclists—we’re also tinkerers—so we can assemble bikes from the parts we receive.

Do you have anything to spare? Come donate it to us at our clubhouse! ️
