A divorce or time out often brings a lot of worry, especially when children are involved. Finding suitable accommodation where children can also come and stay is not easy in Amsterdam. That's why there is Parentshouse.

Temporary housing in Amsterdam

Parentshouse offers temporary housing to parents who are (considering) getting a divorce. The house is near the parental home of the children. In this way, both parents can continue to fulfill their responsibilities and maintain in contact with their children. In addition, they have the time and space for a year to arrange things, such as finding permanent housing. In Amsterdam there are five Parentshouses, two in IJburg, two in Nieuw West and one in Amsterdam Zuid.

In a Parentshouse you rent a spacious room where you can also let your children stay. The living room, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor space are shared with two other divorced parents. The rental price at Parentshouse ranges from € 690 to € 800 (including municipal taxes, gas, water and electricity, internet and television). If you wish, you will receive support from our social workers, who will help you in your search for a permanent home.

Conditions and registration

Realize that you are going to share your home with two others. If you have serious problems such as an addiction or psychiatric problems, Parentshouse is not for you. You can read the exact terms and conditions at
