Poverty is not just a financial problem, therefore volunteers can help

Grinding poverty is still all too common in Amsterdam. Someone can run into difficulties after a series of misfortunate events. Each story is unique, but the hopelessness of the financial malaise unfortunately isn't. Life seems hopeless and often, people will start to neglect themselves. Our first priority is to break out of the pattern. Our volunteers and trainers offer a helping hand taking the first step.

Katinka’s experience

"I tend mainly to listen, I listen very carefully to them. I'm not so much interested in the debts themselves, more in the stories behind them. The debts are just the symptoms. I've noticed that people have it in them to straighten out their lives again but they've lost all confidence in themselves. The Regenboog-mates try to help them regain their confidence."- Katinka Syaranamual, volunteer.

That's how we do it!

Below we describe the ways in which we offer the help mentioned above.

What can you do?

Become a donor! Your money will be well spent on care for homeless people, aid for (former) addicts and people living in poverty or social isolation.
