A hot meal gives survival power
.Life on the streets is tough: figuring out where to sleep every day, and for many homeless people, that means outside. Even before the staff arrives in the morning, they are standing cold in front of the doors of our walk-in centres waiting to be allowed inside. Then the walk-in centre must be able to provide at least the basics to make these people feel a bit human again after a cold, restless night in which they have hardly slept. A hot meal is of course essential for this. Just being able to eat hot provides a moment of rest and satisfaction and can give you the strength to go on again.
The cost of a walk-in centre.
A good portion of the fixed costs we can pay from the municipal subsidy we receive for it, such as rent and personnel costs. That still leaves a lot that we can't cover from the subsidy. We have to manage that with donations. For example, to buy food, equipment and all other necessary items, we are completely dependent on donations from donors. As well as for maintaining the sanitary facilities.
