Blaka Watra

Walk-in centre and user space Blaka Watra is located a few hundred meters from the central station; on the first floor of the headquarters of De Regenboog Groep. Besides Surinamese and Antilleans, a company from all kinds of cultures calls in at the walk-in centre. Visitors can go there for a fine meal, prepared by chefs who are themselves visitors. The meals have an important attraction for visitors. As does the interior, which looks like a Caribbean party: tropical colors, with many murals and other art by visitors. There is a lot of independence among visitors, obviously under the guidance of volunteers and professionals. Activation is at a maximum of what 'Blaka Watra' can handle: cargo bike transportation, sweeping teams and the art project Rainbow Soulclub. There is also a lot of work with 'cooperating visitors' who supervise or help clean the walk-in centre.
