Streetlife app
For years, De Regenboog Groep has been publishing the Blue Booklet. It is a guide containing practical information for surviving on the streets of Amsterdam. The information from the Blue Booklet is now also available via the Streetlife app. The app is available for Android and Apple and is free to download for everyone, including homeless people and social workers. (Link in this article).
Find your way around town with the Streetlife app
Are you becoming homeless in Amsterdam? Then you’ll need to find your way in a new world. Where can you take a shower, get food, and find clean clothes? Can you register for temporary shelter or permanent housing? Where can you find social services, medical care, and mental health support? With the Streetlife app, these resources are now always at your fingertips. The app is built around a map. It helps you easily navigate the city streets until you’re literally standing right outside the door of the assistance or service provider.

At the De Regenboog Groep walk-in centres, most visitors have a smartphone. That’s not surprising, because it’s hard to get by without the internet. Many important matters can only be handled online. It’s also helpful for social workers when clients are reachable, precisely because they don’t have an address and could be anywhere in the city.
For our homeless neighbors with a smartphone, there’s the Streetlife app. For the others, the paper social map (better known as the Blue Booklet) will continue to be available. Organizations can order the Blue Booklet from the Repro van De Regenboog Groep.
Your information in the app
Does your organization offer services that are important to people who have to survive on the streets? If so, we’d love to feature them in the app. Because we want to make sure the help that’s available actually reaches the people it’s meant for.
