.Our social workers notice that many homeless and other vulnerable Amsterdam residents miss out on important help and do not participate in society because they cannot afford a smartphone. It is impossible for them to arrange things for a better life. Think of the UWV, the Department for Work and Income, the Tax Office and the health insurance company. Everywhere you have to log in with DidiD. Looking for a job or housing? Then you enter a world of online responding and uploading data. Many homeless people also want to work as meal deliverers. That requires a smartphone that supports the app on which orders come in. A smartphone is not a luxury, but a basic necessity.
