Buddy for (former) addicts
Some Regenboog volunteers focus on people off the streets, (former) addicts. Buddies give time and attention to these fellow townspeople who have few contacts.
Our participants were in trouble for years because of their addictive behavior. Their lives were ruled by issues such as: How do I get money? Where can I score? Where do I sleep tonight? How do I get a hot meal down? Where can I take a shower? Many of our clients have few meaningful contacts due to their intense lifestyles. They are often very lonely and need a buddy in their lives. Will you help?
As a volunteer, you make a concrete social contribution by supporting a fellow townsman who has lost everything. You meet once a week or every two weeks. Grab a terrace together, take a walk or go to the movies. You are there for the other person and get to know a new world.

The faces of addiction
Addiction has many faces. The face of the street and that of the elderly local resident who drinks away her loneliness, but also that of that nice guy who needs a line to cope with the daily pressure. Background and means don't matter to us, we think it's important to bring something positive, something to look forward to.
The role and significance of a volunteer
What someone wants to accomplish with your help as a volunteer can be big or small. You will have to deal with questions such as what does someone actually like to do, what were once their interests? Where can you go to meet people? What is possible in terms of (volunteer) work? How do you make a house a home again? How do you start over when you have lost everything?

As a volunteer you will go out with your participant, do fun things and be a listening ear. While doing, talking and chatting you help someone socially to find a way again and you make a concrete contribution to that one life, and to the whole.
