Psychiatry Cafe
Monthly there is a Psychiatry Café at five different places in Amsterdam. The Psychiatry Café is a cozy gathering where we talk about psychiatry from our own experiences. We organize the café in Neighborhood Houses, Neighborhood Rooms and in a group room of a housing group.
First eat together
.We always begin the Psychiatry Café with a meal together. We eat between 6pm - 7pm. The food is always freshly prepared and usually vegetarian. You pay a minimum of € 3.50 and a maximum of € 5. This varies per location.
.Then listen and tell
After dinner we discuss something related to psychiatry. Each meeting has a different theme. For that theme we invite a speaker. We ask as much as possible for speakers who can (also) tell from their own experience. There are regular visitors as well as new visitors.
Would you like to know in time which speakers will be there? Then subscribe to the newsletter of the Psychiatry Cafe.
"For once, it's about me, and my situation."
This is why there is the Psychiatry Café
What is it like to live with mental health problems? How does it feel when you are with your counselor? The Psychiatry Café is set up to share such experiences and information with each other. There is also room to express opinions and discuss them with each other.
With those stories, your own experience and your daily life is very important. But also people without their own client experience are welcome, such as (former) clients, experts by experience, family members and friends.
Cozy if you come
Psychic health is a tough subject for many people. It's far from always so for us. We talk about it precisely because it is important to us. And we do that over a cup of coffee or a drink. It's sometimes nice to be with people with whom you share an important experience.
"I feel seen and heard."
