In Amsterdam West lies the Galaxy, a huge cruise ship carrying 1,500 asylum seekers. De Regenboog Groep is getting more and more applications from newcomers who could use a buddy.

What will you do?
These are newcomers who have mostly fled from Yemen, Syria, Iran or Eritrea. Many are still in procedure, which means you are not allowed to study or work.
These people crave social contact: doing something fun, getting off that boat, making contact with Dutch people, getting to know the city, going out together or just being distracted.
Who are we looking for?
- You live in or near Amsterdam
- You speak Dutch and English
- Speaking Arabic, Tigrinya or Farsi is a plus .
- You are committed to the target group and can deal with cultural differences
- You are willing to make time for someone once a week or fortnight for the period of at least six months .

Where and when?
Together with your buddy, you determine where and when you will meet together. Expect to meet at least once a week or fortnight for part of the day.
