Sometimes a person can no longer live on the street or there is perspective for a better situation. In our Short-term Shelter (KDO) we offer people a place to unwind. For up to two weeks, they can come to us for a hot meal, a shower and a safe place to sleep - while we look together at the next step.
What will you do?
You will help out in a place where people can take a break. During a morning or afternoon/evening shift you will provide coffee, tea, breakfast or a hot meal. You will show guests around the location and contribute to a nice atmosphere.
.Also important: you chat, play a game or offer a listening ear.
What do you get from us?
- Professional guidance from experienced colleagues
- Free training through the Volunteer Academy
- Expense reimbursement
Who are we looking for?
- We are looking for volunteers who are open and engaged and like to do something for someone else.
- You are a good listener, reliable and feel at home in a diverse environment.
- You are preferably available once a week during the period from April 1 to July 31.
Where and when?
The Kortdurende Opvang takes place at Transformatorweg 6 in Amsterdam.
.We work with two services:
Morning shift: 7:30 - 10:00 a.m.
Afternoon/evening shift: 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Shelter runs from April 1 to July 31 (with possible extension). Vacations during this period are not a problem - we will work that out together.
