For some women, going outside for a while is not natural. Not because they do not want to, but because they do not feel safe, feel gloomy or lonely, or have fled because of who they are.
For some lesbian women in Amsterdam, life is reclusive - with few people around them.
You can make a difference for someone.
What will you do?
- You will be paired with a lesbian city colleague who feels lonely or finds it difficult to go out
- You will meet regularly (for at least six months)
- What do you do? You decide that together - from a market visit, a walk or a good conversation
- This is how you help someone step by step to regain confidence in others and in themselves .
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for lesbian volunteers who are confident and open to other people's stories. You do not only offer a listening ear, but above all let someone feel: you can be there - exactly as you are.
Further you are:
Social and open-minded
Respectful of cultural differences
Self lesbian (which gives recognition and confidence for the buddy)
Speaking English or another language? Extra nice!
What do you get from us?
- Free training through the Volunteer Academy
Professional guidance
Expense reimbursement
And most importantly, you make a real difference in someone's life
Where and when?
You and your buddy plan together where, when and how often you meet. It's usually one half-day per week or every two weeks - for the duration of at least six months.
