"Grip op je Geld" Volunteer – Help Amsterdammers with their financial matters

Are you outgoing, tech-savvy, and do you enjoy helping others? Do you believe it’s important for everyone to take control of their finances? Then we’re looking for you! For our “Grip op je Geld” walk-in consultation hours in Amsterdam-Oost, we’re looking for a dedicated volunteer to help Amsterdam residents with their financial and administrative questions.

What are you going to do?

"Grip op je Geld" is a free walk-in consultation service where Amsterdam residents can come without an appointment to ask questions about financial matters and paperwork. In various city districts, volunteers from De Regenboog Groep and Humanitas, together with staff from the neighborhood team and MEE, help visitors regain control of their financial situation.

As a volunteer, you’ll listen to visitors’ questions and help them get started. No two questions are the same! One time you might help someone apply for benefits; another time, you might help them organize their mail or apply for debt relief.

Among other things, you’ll help with:

  • Applying for “Pak je Kans” services.

  • Applying for benefits, such as unemployment benefits (WW) or social assistance.

  • Sorting and organizing mail and paperwork.

  • Providing support with simple debt settlement arrangements.

  • Drafting simple appeals, for example, regarding parking tickets or trash collection fines.

  • Applying for municipal tax relief.

You’ll work alongside other volunteers and professionals. Together, you’ll ensure that visitors feel heard and can find answers to their questions.

Who are you?

You don’t have to have an answer to everything right away. What matters most to us is that you’re engaged, work carefully, and enjoy helping others.

In addition:

  • Are you sociable, engaged, and not quick to judge?

  • Are you practical and a go-getter?

  • Are you digitally savvy and do you work carefully?

  • Are you available for at least 3.5 hours per week?

  • Are you 18 years of age or older?

What do we offer you?

As a volunteer with De Regenboog Groep, you make a real difference in the daily lives of Amsterdam residents. You help people gain a better overview and control over their financial affairs.

In addition, we offer:

  • Free training through the Volunteer Academy and the National Incentive Network for Home Administration (LSTA).

  • Professional guidance and support.

  • Reimbursement for expenses and travel costs.

  • A dedicated team of volunteers and professionals.

  • Valuable experience in the field of financial and administrative support.

Where and when?

You’ll be working at the “Grip op je Geld” walk-in consultation hour in Amsterdam-East.

Location: Buurtteam Oost, 's-Gravesandeplein 19, Amsterdam.

Day: Every Wednesday.

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Sign up to volunteer with Grip op je Geld! We’d love to meet you.
