In a city like Amsterdam, where everything always seems to be bustling, more and more people are living in quiet worry. Prices are skyrocketing and one in five single parents now lives in poverty. For many Amsterdam residents, it is difficult to make ends meet - and then the letters pile up, bills remain outstanding and feelings of stress grow.
You can make a difference in that.
You don't have to be an accountant. You don't have to be a healthcare provider. What we do look for: someone who says "come on, we're just going to figure it out together."
What will you do?
- Together opening the mail, organizing papers, creating a folder
- Finding out what bills are outstanding
- Providing support for a possible debt relief program
- Helping to apply for an allowance
- helping someone regain control in small steps
- Sometimes calling an institution together to clarify things .
- And above all: bringing overview and peace .
The support in a debt relief program is practical: getting the debts in order and possibly requesting the outstanding amounts from institutions. The high stress level sometimes makes this impossible (where do you start?) and then it is very valuable to do this quietly together.
And to bring peace and quiet
- .
Who are we looking for?
- Someone available for a few hours a week
- A practical attitude and an open mind
- You are 21 years of age or older
- Compatience, humor, and confidence that things can work out
What do you get from us?
- Professional guidance from experienced colleagues
- Training through the Volunteer Academy (completely free)
- Expense reimbursement
- And perhaps most importantly: you make a real difference for someone in your city .
