Do you live in Amsterdam Zuidoost (or enjoy spending time there) and have two hours to spare each week? Then you can really make a difference in the life of a neighbor who feels lonely.
In Amsterdam, one in four people regularly feels lonely, down, or stressed. You can help by doing something simple yet valuable: offering companionship. A chat, a walk, a trip to the market together, or a cup of coffee—that’s often all it takes.
What are you going to do?
Together with a coordinator from De Regenboog Groep, we’ll find a neighbor who’s a good match for you. After that, you’ll meet weekly or every other week—at someone’s home, outside in the park, or somewhere in the neighborhood. You decide what to do and when.
What do you get from us?
- Professional guidance from De Regenboog Groep
- Contact with other volunteers
- €10 expense reimbursement each time you meet with your buddy
- Free training sessions through the Volunteer Academy
We won’t throw you in at the deep end. We’ll make sure you get off to a good start, know what to do, and are never on your own.
Who are we looking for?
✓ You live in Amsterdam (preferably in Southeast Amsterdam, or you’re willing to travel there)
✓ You’re at least 21 years old
✓ You have a few hours to spare each week or every two weeks
✓ You’re available for at least one year
Where and when?
You choose where and when to meet. Going on vacation? Then just skip a week.
