Do you love animals too? Can you picture yourself walking or cuddling with one of these sweethearts? We're looking for volunteers who would like to foster a pet in their home for a while.
What is Dier&Vriend?
Dier&Vriend is here for pet owners who are temporarily placed in a social shelter. Here, people can get their lives back on track with therapeutic help—for example, if they’re dealing with mental health issues or addiction. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in these shelters.
Pet owners often face challenges in various areas of their lives and, as a result, lack the support network or financial means to find a safe place for their pet. This is often a reason why owners decide not to check into a shelter.
That is why we are looking for volunteer foster homes so that the owner can receive the care they need. As a foster home, you take in a pet for up to six months.
Who are we looking for?
- You have a suitable environment for caring for the assigned pet.
- You have enough time to care for the animal and provide it with peace and stability.
- You’ll care for the animal as if it were your own.
- You’re patient and persistent.
- You’ll take the animal to the vet if necessary.
- You are able to part with the animal after a maximum of 6 months.
What do we offer you?
- You get to care for an animal in your life for a limited time.
- A very interesting and educational experience.
- We cover all expenses, such as food, during the foster period.
- You can take advantage of the training programs offered by the Volunteer Academy for free.
How long do you keep an animal in your care?
The foster period can last a few weeks, but it can also last a few months, up to a maximum of half a year. During the foster period, you’ll need to be able to care for the animal full-time.
