Farah (31): "the world would be even more beautiful if everyone volunteered."
"I know De Regenboog Groep from my work at the municipality from where I refer people who could use a buddy or other help. My faith has inspired me to do more besides my work; being of service, helping people...this is part of it. In addition, it also gives me great satisfaction. I can really offer something to my buddy Lindsay. She has a physical condition, which makes quite a few things very difficult for her. But despite the obstacles, she remains positive. She prefers not to meet at home, because she can go out with me. Then we go out for lunch, for example. She really likes to chat, so lunch is perfect. And then it's all about positive things and it's really just women together.
Very natural
.We have a nice interaction: Lindsay is also very social and open, so that makes the contact very natural. I actually thought it would be harder. Before I had met her, and only got some information, I was already completely in the caregiver role, haha. I'm used to that from my job. But I soon noticed that that is not necessary, she knows very well what she wants.
Feeling welcome
.I like the fact that De Regenboog Groep is for everyone. With my headscarf, I am and feel welcome there. There is still plenty of work to do: I think if everyone volunteered, the world would be even more beautiful!"
