"After years of working commercial jobs, I started applying to The Regenboog in 2004. I haven't regretted it for a day. I'm especially happy to be working with volunteers. They keep me awake. They are here because they love those beautiful, sweet, smelly people. This makes me realize again and again why this work is important. There is a certain purity that I encounter here every day. Everyone is equal to each other.

Furthermore, I find De Regenboog very agile. As an organization we can switch gears very well and respond to current problems. But the best thing is the life stories of our visitors. Take Peter, for example. He has been homeless for years and never wanted to apply for benefits. He did want to do voluntary work at Makom. That was only possible as a participant. Recalcitrant as he was, he had to apply for benefits. He now works at Rederij Kees: a paid job! His heart is also still with us, so he works two days a week as a volunteer at Makom. I find that so heartwarming."
