Marit Postma - manager Work & Activation / Social Firms / Temporary Living, has worked at De Regenboog Groep since 2010.
On the morning of May 14, 2019, De Regenboog Groep is taking action to draw attention to the situation of economically homeless people. These "self-reliant homeless" have found themselves on the streets, for example, due to divorce or job loss. The action: setting up cardboard tents on the Elandsgracht. In order to help this group of people out of trouble, letters were written to thirty larger property owners in the city.
"One of them has responded so far," said Marit Postma in 2019. Is it Prince Bernhard Jr. "Indeed, we sent a message to him as well, but he hasn't responded yet. Anyway, our logic in asking these people for help is: property owners have a lot of properties, where there is also quite a bit of vacancy. The more people they can help accommodate, the more it saves. For many economically homeless people, in general: if you live on the streets for a longer time, it's harder to get back on your feet and get a place to live and a job of your own. So that's what we want to prevent."
