Tabe Rienks - youth worker (died Feb. 3, 1976)
A man of faith and vision, a woodsman in youth culture. Utterly loyal with people who get between the wheels. He is the first to alert people to what is happening in Vondel Park in 1974. The building of De Regenboog on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal is named after Tabe, "the lighter of light in a darkening Amsterdam. The loyalty of the youth worker is evident when the police inspect one of the youth houses where Tabe is working. It is bursting with people. "But Mr. Rienks, do you know that according to the regulations you are not allowed to have more than a hundred people in this room, and you certainly have as many as two hundred." Tabe replies, "Yes, I know. Here you have the microphone. Would you mind telling me which young people have to leave the room?"
