Sometimes you need to get away from your daily environment to gain some strength. Away from the stimuli that give you tension. To a place where you are not being called upon and where you can focus completely on yourself. At Villa Buitenlust in the quiet and green surroundings of Westerpark you can do just that.
Pressure off
People staying at Villa Buitenlust include:
- a parent in divorce
- one with mental health problems
- one after admission to a mental health institution or at Jellinek
- one with an addicted partner
- a sensitive person with a renovation around the corner
- a heavily burdened caregiver
Lodging at Villa Buitenlust is usually part of a broader support plan. Caregivers use lodging or respite care to allow their client to relax a bit. As the tension eases, the client feels more space to consider and address his or her problems.
Quickly arranged
At Villa Buitenlust, care is available quickly. Usually an intake takes place within a week, after which the stay can start shortly thereafter. There is still room for new applications for 2025.
Home away from home
The villa offers a homely and relaxed atmosphere, where guests can unwind in their own way. They are given a key and decide how to spend their stay. There is no program, but there is a weekly community dinner, followed by yin yoga. There are always opportunities for a chat, (making) food together or activities in and around the villa, for example with the artist in residence staying there that month.

Local care is usually systemic in nature, such as for family caregivers. Referrers apply for it themselves in RiS Neighborhood Care Team. Respite care is often for people living alone with a psychiatric background and to prevent a crisis. Funding for respite care is through Villa Buitenlust.
Please note:The stay is not intended for situations of (impending) homelessness.
