Parentshouse
A divorce or time-out often brings a lot of worries, especially when children are involved. Finding suitable (temporary) housing where children can also stay is not easy. That is why there is Parentshouse. Currently we have five houses in Amsterdam: two on IJburg, two in New West and one in South. In addition, there is a Parentshouse of De Regenboog Groep in Amstelveen. We are looking for locations in more districts, including Noord and Zuidoost.
.What is it?
Parentshouse provides temporary housing for parents who are (considering) getting divorced. The home is near the children's parental home. This allows both parents to continue to fulfill their care responsibilities and maintain contact with their children. In addition, for up to a year, they are given the peace and quiet to arrange matters such as finding permanent housing.
Who is it for?
Parentshouse is designed for people who are in divorce and caring for children. It is for people who are economically homeless, not entitled to shelter and cannot make it in this housing market. For more information on eligibility, read on when you apply (see below).
How does it work?
You will share the apartment with two others. You will rent a spacious room where you can also have children stay. The living room, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor area will be shared with two other divorced parents. They also host their children in the apartment. The rental prices at Parentshouse in Amsterdam and Amstelveen range from €750 to €850 (including municipal taxes, GWL, internet and television). You will receive support in finding a sustainable solution.
