Becoming a language buddy of a foreign-speaking woman in Amsterdam
Many women in Nieuw-West and Noord are waiting for a language buddy. They would like to learn Dutch, but do not (yet) dare to take lessons at a school. You can make a difference.
A language buddy helps a non-native woman get started in her new world. One on one, in a place where she feels safe - at home, or together outside in the park, the market or the library. With your help she learns the language and her self-confidence grows.
What will you do?
You will meet weekly with your language buddy
.You practice the Dutch language in an informal, hands-on way
You expand her world and her opportunities
You encourage contact, independence and participation in society
Who are we looking for?
You are a woman
You are fluent in Dutch
You do not have to be a teacher - motivation and patience are enough
You live in Amsterdam and have an hour of time each week
What do you get from us?
A fine basic preparatory training
.Support from a permanent coordinator
Access to teaching materials (the ABC library)
Expense allowance (e.g., for coffee during an outdoor lesson)
