EU migrants who are stranded in Amsterdam and homeless can go to the Amoc walk-in centre for a meal, a hot shower, and clean clothes. The night shelter welcomes a diverse range of vulnerable clients who need a place to sleep for at least one night.
We are currently looking for a new colleague for our night shelter for 8 months (until April 1, 2027)
As a night shelter staff member, you’ll be responsible for welcoming our guests. You’ll perform household tasks such as preparing meals and serve as a point of contact for practical questions and problems. You’re flexible, able to handle stress, resourceful when faced with challenges, and decisive.
What else will you be doing?
- Register visitors and perform administrative tasks.
- Ensure compliance with house rules and safety regulations.
- Ensure a pleasant atmosphere.
- Prepare dinner and breakfast for clients and perform other household tasks.
- Represent De Regenboog Groep in interactions with neighbors and local residents.
What do you bring to the table?
Here’s what’s important to us:
- You enjoy working at night: A shift lasts a total of 12.5 hours, of which you work actively for 4.5 hours and sleep for 8 hours
- You are flexible; you are also available to work as a substitute in case of illness or vacation
- You have at least an MBO+ level of work and thinking
- You speak English well; speaking an Eastern European language is a big plus, such as Hungarian or Romanian
- You enjoy working as part of a team, but are also able and willing to work independently at night
- You have knowledge of homelessness, substance use, and mental health
- You are willing to work varying evening and night shifts, including weekends and holidays
We offer you:
- A unique workplace in Amsterdam.
- A minimum wage of €14.71 per hour; for the 8-hour sleep shift and for the awake hours, a gross salary of at least €2,888 and at most €3,917 (FWG 40) based on a 36-hour workweek, subject to the terms of the GGZ collective bargaining agreement, plus a collective bargaining agreement-compliant ORT (irregular hours allowance) for evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- The opportunity to truly make a difference for the guests at our night shelter.
