This shelter, located at Transformatorweg 6, is designed for short-term stays of up to 2 weeks for homeless people in Amsterdam from all walks of life who have been living in Amsterdam for at least one year.
We’re looking for a decisive and experienced Social Worker who thrives on a challenge, is empathetic, and is willing to go the extra mile to make our visitors’ stay as pleasant as possible.
Job Description
As a social worker for the KDO, you will be responsible for the daily coordination of referrals, communication with referring agencies, and maintaining administrative records. You’ll hold consultation hours in the evening and/or morning to address our visitors’ requests for assistance, while leaving the responsibility as much as possible with the individual themselves or with the social worker who made the referral. Above all, you’ll be a pillar of support for your colleagues on the Social Work team and the day coordinators at the shelter.
Your responsibilities will also include
- Building and maintaining your network to support our clients, both within and outside the organization;
- Promptly and accurately processing referrals and clarifying requests for assistance and objectives for placement in the KDO;
- Coordinating with colleagues at the shelter and fellow social workers in the field;
- Holding office hours and providing support in arranging various practical matters;
- Documenting progress in the digital client file, Trajectus, and Excel spreadsheets.
You will receive guidance from and report to the Social Services Program Coordinator
What do you bring to the table?
Here’s what’s important to us:
- You have completed a relevant higher professional education (HBO) program;
- You have at least two years of relevant work experience;
- You have an affinity with the target group of De Regenboog Groep;
- Knowledge of Amsterdam’s social services landscape and familiarity with the network;
- An open attitude, strong social skills, motivational, able to distinguish between main and secondary issues and organize them effectively, a team player, and resourceful;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- A gross salary ranging from a minimum of €3,560 to a maximum of €4,716 (FWG 50) based on a 36-hour workweek, with employment conditions in accordance with the GGZ collective bargaining agreement.
