Job Opening: Social Worker at Team Dobre020 (Please note the language requirement!)

De Regenboog Groep is dedicated to helping the homeless, people struggling with addiction, and people with mental health issues, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Our Social Services department helps these individuals achieve stability and find a new outlook on life in Amsterdam, elsewhere in the Netherlands, or abroad. We take a systematic and person-centered approach: the needs behind the request for help are our top priority. We go the extra mile to truly make a difference and do whatever it takes to help someone move forward.

Our outreach team Dobre020 focuses specifically on people sleeping rough who are EU citizens. We seek out homeless EU citizens in the center of Amsterdam or the outlying areas and provide social assistance on the spot.

Our goal is to break the cycle of homelessness by finding suitable employment, housing, or shelter options both in the Netherlands and abroad.

To strengthen this team, we are looking for a: Social Worker for 32 hours per week, starting October 1, 2026. In addition to Dutch and/or English, you also speak an Eastern European language such as Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Hungarian, Russian, Romanian, or Bulgarian.

As a social worker:

  • You actively reach out to potential clients and encourage them to take advantage of the services offered by social work and the walk-in centres;
  • You work systematically, draw up support plans, and focus on restoring prospects for the future in the Netherlands or in the client’s country of origin;
  • You are approachable and maintain contact with other parties involved with our target group, such as Jellinek and the GGD; in addition, you build a network both domestically and abroad to support the assistance provided to our clients;
  • Together with the street workers, you serve as the point of contact for neighborhood residents and other stakeholders with questions and requests regarding this project and the clients;
  • You are flexible in terms of time and location (office/street);
  • Traveling abroad may be part of the support provided;
  • You will maintain records in the digital client file;
  • You will actively contribute to the weekly case study and work meetings;
  • You will receive guidance from and report to the Social Services Program Coordinator at De Regenboog Groep.

What do you bring to the table?

Here’s what’s important to us:

  • You have a relevant, completed higher professional education (HBO) degree (or a comparable degree from abroad);
  • You are fluent in an Eastern European language (Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Russian) and also speak Dutch and/or English.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare system in another European country is a plus;
  • You have an open mindset and are socially skilled, motivating, a team player, and resourceful;
  • You see challenges and opportunities in working with people facing complex issues;
  • You are independent and do not feel constrained by conventional approaches or rigid structures;
  • You are willing to work occasionally on weekends or outside of regular office hours;
  • You are confident and have life experience.

  • Travel allowance and opportunities for professional development.
