EU migrants who are stranded in Amsterdam and homeless can come to the Amoc drop-in center for a meal, a hot shower, and clean clothes. The night shelter welcomes a variety of vulnerable clients who need a place to sleep for at least one night.
We are currently looking for a new colleague for our night shelter.
As a night shelter employee, you will be responsible for welcoming our guests. You will perform household tasks such as preparing meals and act as a point of contact for practical questions and problems. You are flexible, stress-resistant, resourceful when challenges arise, and decisive.
Your duties will also include
- Registering visitors and performing administrative tasks
- Ensure compliance with house rules and safety regulations
- Creating a pleasant atmosphere
- Preparing dinner and breakfast for clients and performing other household tasks
- Representing De Regenboog in contact with local residents
This job is right for you if you:
- Enjoy working at night; shifts are between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m., considering that you will have sleeping shifts (on-call in the location between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.).
- You are flexible; also as a substitute in case of illness or vacation. Have a good command of English; speaking an Eastern European language is an advantage, for example Hungarian or Romanian.
- Enjoy working in a team but are able and willing to work independently at night.
- Have knowledge of homelessness, drug use and mental health.
- Are willing to work varying evening and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

- A minimum wage salary of €14,71 per hour, for the sleeping shift of 8 hours and for the awake hours a gross salary at the least €2,589,- and at most €3,803,- based on 36 hours employment, conditions in accordance with the GGZ CAO (FWG 40) plus CAO-compliant ORT (irregularity allowance) for evening/night and weekend/holiday shifts.
