Because of its success, the pilot "Night shelter for homeless EU citizens'' has been extended indefinitely. Since then, homeless EU citizens can go to Transformatorweg 6 in Amsterdam West for a meal, a hot shower, clean clothes and overnight accommodation. They receive guidance from our social work for stranded EU citizens.
We find it important that the night shelter is a safe and welcoming place where people feel welcome. For the morning and evening shifts, we are looking for a go-getter who can improvise and is strong on their feet. Please note that the position does not involve night shifts.
As an employee night shelter EU citizens you will provide support in the daily operations. You answer questions, make sure the location stays clean and tidy and that everything runs smoothly. Together with your colleagues you work to create a good atmosphere and make the shelter a place where people like to come.
Your duties will also include
✓ having conversations with visitors about what is needed to get their lives back on track;
✓ collaborate with your social work colleagues to ensure that appropriate assistance is provided;
✓ registering visitors and performing administrative duties;
✓ monitoring compliance with house and safety rules;
✓ preparing dinner and breakfast and performing housekeeping duties;
✓ representing De Regenboog in contact with external parties;
This job suits you if you
✓ have a mbo+ or hbo working and thinking level;
✓ are familiar with addiction and psychiatry;
✓ do not wait for the next assignment from your supervisor, but get to work yourself;
✓ can work well as part of a team;
✓ are stress-resistant, communicatively strong, flexible and decisive
✓ speak at least one other language besides Dutch (preferably Polish, Romanian, Russian or Hungarian);
✓ are available immediately or in the short term and are willing to work outside office hours in an irregular schedule.
